To treat or not: You do not need to treat a fever. If it is complicated by pain, and the temperature is greater than 101.4 for children over 2 months of age then the amount of medication depends on the weight. You can buy over the counter antipyretics at your local pharmacy and the doses are noted on the side of the package. Remember that your child needs to be well hydrated when giving antipyretics.
