How long do you have to be on antibiotics after an abscess cure?

Depends: It really depends on where the abscess is and how severe it is. If you have an abscessed tooth antibiotics alone do not cure, you need to treat the tooth to get rid of it. Most courses of oral antibiotics last 1 to 2 weeks. A z-pak is a 5 day course.
