A member asked:

Is there any type of cure or therapy for mental retardation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No cure, but help.: Mental retardation, now referred to as intellectual disability, is defined as having an iq of less than 70 and also experiencing difficulty in social areas. A person's iq does not change over time, but it is important to do everything to help them reach their potential. In many cases, speech, occupational, and/or physical therapies are useful. They also need the best educational setting available.
