Hip surgery: You should take your time returning to work and other activities you enjoy. Everyone heals at a different rate, and your orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist will be able to gauge your timetable for returning to these things. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Depends on work: The type of work and job requirements will determine when many people return to work. For sit down work, many patients can return within a few weeks. For jobs that require a lot of walking, lifting, stairs, or driving, a time frame of 6 or more weeks may be required. Some patients will recover more quickly than others and return sooner. You and your physician should discuss this.

Don't rush back: The patient knows the requirements of their particular job. People who need to be on their feet a lot should wait 6 weeks. Sedentary workers can return on a limited basis earlier.
