6 - 12 weeks: Most patients have resumed normal activity at about 6 weeks but can take up to a year for a full recovery.

There is no average: Recovery for every patient is different, and depends on their physical demands and expectations. Human biology, however, is fairly constant. Biologically, you are 90% recovered at 6 weeks, 98% recovered at 3 months. Some time between then and 1 year, you forget you had a hip replacement. You are then 100% recovered!

THA recovery: Usually up walking on it full weight bearing by the next morning, sometimes even the night of surgery. Lots of pt and therapy: start with walker, progress to cane and stairs. 6 weeks for collagen and soft tissue to heal.
