A member asked:

Can a intramuscular bicep lesion that appears heterogeneous on an ultrasound still be a lipoma? what else could it be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ultrasound: Is limited in its ability to characterize soft tissue masses. An MRI with contrast is the best study short of biopsy to evaluate whether this lesion is a benign lipoma or something else. The contrast allows the radiologist to see if any part of the presumed fatty mass enhances (as may occur with liposarcomas).
