Yes and no: Yes skin testing is reliable fr acute histamine mediated allergic reactions. No you may not be safe ingesting all food types as we have other pathways for food allergies...That cause eczema, GI upset, diarrhea, congestion, etc. These reactions are not life threatening like an acute reaction. Pay attention to what you eat and how you feel. A whole food plant based diet is still the best for most.

Don't count on it: People can have adverse reactions to foods that are significant but have nothing to do with allergy. About 1/4 adults are intolerant to lactose sugar in regular milk & have a variety of symptoms. Red food dye #40 can give similar symptoms in many. Skin tests can be a guide, but maintaining a food diary & being vigilant about your changes in symptoms is often the best approach.

Food allergy testing: Skin testing for food allergies as well as blood test (RAST) are good negative tests, if done properly for the main food categories (7) that can cause type 1 allergic reaction. History is more reliable though, i.e. If you don't have a problem eating a specific food, and the test shows you are allergic, then history is more reliable, testing performed to confirm diagnosis. Celiac isn't allergy
