General Anesthesia: The simple answer to your question is "yes". Most of the medications administered to you will be through the iv. If you decide not to have general anesthesia you do not need an IV for wisdom teeth removal.

No: It's your choice...You can have your wisdom teeth out with simple local anesthesia & avoid the side effects & possible complications associated with general anesthesia. It's your choice, discuss it with your dentist.

See below: If you have a general anesthetic, or if you receive IV sedation, you will need an IV placed. Oral sedative agents will not require this. Talk to your dentist about your options.
