TO BE PUT TO SLEEP: Sedation provides you with a restful sleep during the procedure snd most anesthetics have an amensic quality to them so you will not remember the event.

Lack of awareness: If you are going to have intravenous anesthesia or sedation (recommended), your memories of the procedure will be minimal or non-existant. You will be numb afterwards. If you are having local anesthesia only, you will have a recollection of the surgical procedure and will have post-op numbness. Discuss the procedure/anesthetic with your surgeon.

Sedation: In most cases you will receive some form of sedation as well as the local anesthetic. Having had my wisdom teeth removed i can tell you i received valium and some narcotic. Though not under general anesthesia I have no recall of the procedure.
