Baby teeth: At this age the best thing you can do is take a moist cotton gauze and wipe the tooth. Also make sure never to put the baby to sleep with a bottle containing anything but water. The sugars from anything else (including milk) can cause decay.

Washcloth cleaning: Tooth cleaning can be done by wrapping a moistened washcloth around your finger; cradling the child with one arm while massaging the tooth and gums with the other hand.

Gently clean: The tooth and gums with a piece of gauze after each feeding if possible. Once more teeth erupt use an ultra soft infant toothbrush and infant toothpaste with out fluoride. Never put a child to bed at nap-time or night-time with a bottle containing anything other then plain water. See your pediatric dentist by one year of age.

After meals: If you get into the habit of a wet wash cloth to gently wipe the teeth after eating and drinking - you should be able to minimize risk. You should also make sure that you and those that are caring for your little boy have healthier dental habits- caries are spread through contact and sharing.. So if you are cavity free- no new cavities for yrs, and those around you the same- it is healthier option.
