Possibly: Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) is one of the potential, although rare, side effects of tetracyclines. Please stop medicine right away and see your doctor. I would also advise not to have your son participating in any sports or physical activity until the platelet count is evaluated and corrected. Trauma could result in serious bleeding with a low platelet count.

Perhaps: The name of the medication you listed does not exist. If you meant minocycline, a commonly used drug to treat acne, then yes, a low platelet count is a reported side effect of this medicine.

Need exam: His platelet is low and he needs to be seen by a ped-hematologist to evaluate his low platelet counts. While it is true that some medication like antibiotic can cause low platelet level- however there are many other things / conditions that can decrease production of the platelet in the bone marrow or can increase destruction /consumptions . This is something that your doctor can help you with.
