Finger swelling: Probably the most effective otc medication for the pain or swelling of a finger is ibuprofen. Arnica gel or cream applied directly to the area may also help. Aspercreme may help too as something to rub on it. A final otc cream that could be tried is.

Sure: If you can tolerate them, try Ibuprofen or naproxen. Also, some swelling is helped by soaking for 10-15 minutes in warm water with epsom salts.
