Start small: A lot of kids have trouble with this-they don't think they can therefor they can't. Consider this, though: does your child eat hot dogs? If so, there is no physical reason they can't swallow a pill since most people swallow bigger hot dog pieces than most pills. That being said, start with a small dissolvable something, put it on the back of his tongue and have him drink.

Well...: The makers of adhd medication were smart enough to realize many children have difficulty swallowing pills and offer alternative ways of delivering the medication to the child. Some capsules can be opened in applesauce, some dissolved in liquid, some are patches and there is even a liquid formulation. Teaching kids to swallow pills is one of life's mysteries. Cut up gummy bears are great practice.
