Sounds complicated.: This is a little hard to answer as it really depends upon many factors. How did you obtain said hole? Gunshot, trauma. Infection? In general the object is to close the hole and restore integrity to the chest wall. There may be necessary repairs to the lung or removal of fluid or excess air. This may require placement of a chest tube. In any case wounds like this need to be cared for quickly.
