Need an x-ray: Jumping and landing on your heel is a common way to fracture the calcaneus. An x-ray initially is a must to evaluate you for a fracture. A missed fracture, particularly of the calcaneus, can have very negative implications. For now, rest, ice, compression (ace-wrap) and elevation while limiting your weight-bearing, but get in to see a doctor soon!

Xray: If your heel is swollen and hurts to bear weight or even put you leg down, i would get an x-ray asap... A heel bone (calcaneus) fracture is a serious condition that not infrequently needs surgery. If it is broken, there would be a risk of a much poor result if neglected. Go now...

Get: An x-ray to see if its fractured and stay off it. An MRI would be helpful to see if ligament damage is presnt.

You need an x-ray.: To find out if it is fractured or not, you will need to have it professionally evaluated. You will need x-rays taken to determine if it is broken or if it is just a bruise or sprain.
