Ask your doctor: As you seem to already know, nsaids, like ibuprofen, are bad for your kidney. Rest, ice initially, then heat later, perhaps gentle massage or physical therepy may help. Your doctor may also suggest a topical, like Lidoderm patches, but with a single kidney i would ask him or her.
