Im post surgical gallbladder removal. ate low fat chicken soup tonite and am having severe sharp intense pain where gallbladder was. is this normal?

Sometimes it takes: About one or two months for your biliary system to enlarge just enough to accommodate the absence of storage capacity of gallbladder. If pain persists beyond two months or so, re-consult your surgeon for repeat testing.

Not normal: This is not a typical reaction after cholecystectomy, but some patients may experience similar symptoms to pre-op while they still have some internal swelling post-op. If you have severe pain, contact your surgeon, otherwise keep track of foods that cause discomfort & avoid them for a few months. Since you still produce bile, you should be able to digest normally.
