Flatulence: Flatulence is caused by gases created from the digestion of food. I am not sure what you think or why you are asking if surgery can cure flatulence.

No: Flatulence is caused by overproduction of gas, usually due to benign reasons, most often due to: 1) excessive swallowing of air; 2) dietary reasons, eating foods that are difficult to digest; and 3) conditions that affect absorption, such as enzyme deficiencies in the bowel (for example, celiac sprue, lactase deficiency). You should see a nutritionist to change your diet.

No surgery for gas: Flatus typically comes from either breakdown of digested intestinal contents, or from aerophagia, air drawn into the esophagus as the diaphragm contracts to pull air into the lungs. The former can be affected by diet, the latter by lung problems (asthma, etc) or psych issues like anxiety. In neither case would i suggest surgery.
