A member asked:

Does a person have a tendency to be suffered from flatulence, ibs and passing gas b/c of having redundant colon?if not what are the basic reasons?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Redundant colon is a common finding of no clinical significance. People can have irritable bowel, chronic constipation or intermittent diarrhea without a redundant colon. Surgery does not help. Most flatulance is from swallowed gases. Avoid soda drinks, eat more fruits & vegetables, avoid junk foods & greasy foods, try adding fiber like metamucil & adding probiotics in your diet. Exercise.
