I'm myopic (20/80 and 20/100). Could the shape of the eye caus you to see more halos or starburts?

Possibly: With correction, many of those images should be reduced or disappear altogether. There is a phenomena called spherical aberration which has to do with the topograpjhy of your eye which may leed to above described images. Also if your eyes dilate at night you may see halos around lights. Uncorr4ected astigmatism may be another cause.

Help! need to know if there's a correlation between the axial length of the eye and ocular mass?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Andrea Kossler
Ophthalmology 15 years experience
Not likely: The axial length of the eye is the diameter or how long your eye is. A mass in the eye would not make your eye longer. The axial length can change with age, surgery, progressive myopia or other ocular conditions. See your eye doctor if you are concerned about a mass in your eye.

Glitazones: There is a class of diabetic drugs called glitazones(e.g. Actos (pioglitazone) and avandia) that have been known to cause vision loss, but not direct muscle damage. The cholesterol lowering drugs called statins have recently been linked to eye muscle issues, but not pulled off the market.
