Many alternatives: Gabapentin is a safe effective medication for neuropathic pain. Only 2% of patients reported weight gain with it. The alternatives have a wider adverse reaction profile. If it's helping, you may consider staying on it & working with your doctor to lose the weight. Other anticonvulsants, analgesics, antidepressants, Botox & pt are used with varying degrees of success. Please talk with your doctor.

Not Realy: Weight gain with either or both of these medications are pretty typical. However, i would hope you are starting to feel better and now you can get out an exercise more to loose the extra weight. Hang in there. These medications are good ones, and worth trying for 90-120 days.
