Yes: A fatty liver does eventually affect your liver function but if it is mild the liver function may still be normal. Also if the fatty liver is severe and there is cirrhosis and the cells in the liver are not functioning the will not respond normally and will appear normal on the blood test even though the liver is not normal.

A 47-year-old male asked:
U/S in 2008 and 2015 showed fatty liver. How often should U/S and liver function tests be done to check on the status of the fatty liver? Thanks.
