What can be done if the mesh used in an inguinal hernia repair migrated. could it cause any damage?

Unusual: Stitched in place, or stapled in place. Usually substantial scar, which is the healing process to prevent recurrence would keep from " migrating". Infection of the foreign material is a risk. Erosion of tissue, or extrusion can occur.

Damage rare: The migrated mesh most of the time will find its own space stay dormant , how ever if it is on a major vein or artery creates pressure on them may erode and cause massive bleeding, may cause gut erosions and form abscess and fistulas. But rare , .
