Indefinite, but..: Cabergoline in does as low as 0.5 mg/week will do it and also return your pituitary's function to normal after several months. The decrement in protein will be within several weeks!

Days to weeks: Generally, it's rather rapid -- assuming that it is the cause and not another medication or a pituitary adenoma.
