A member asked:

I left risperdal for clozapine because of prolactin but i hate the drooling from clozapine. would it be ok to get back on risperdal and bromocriptine?

Not a good idea: Risperdal and Clozapine decrease Dopamine levels in the brain. Bromocriptine lowers prolactin by increasing Dopamine levels in the brain. While this is good for lowering prolacitn levels and stopping problems with breast discharge or low t levels, it also cancels out the beneficial effects of the risperdal.

Must discuss w your: psychiatrist. Sialorrhea (excessive drooling) can occur in 30 to 80% of people taking clozapine. Although usually dose independent, lowering dose may decrease sx. Atropine or Glycopyrolate may help. Tell your dr. if it is causing gagging. REF: https://www.thenationalcouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Clozapine-Webinar-3-.pdf?daf=375ateTbd56
