Eating healthy, incr activity w/ pedometer. journaling food. calorie deficits. gaining weight! what am i missing? thyroid tests were normal in past.

Keep it up: The most common cause of weight gain i see in dieting patients is erroneous food journaling (underestimation of intake or calorie content of food) or overestimation of caloric needs. If these are not the case, then i might consider some other hormonal conditions, like cushing's disease / hypercortisolism.

Gaining weight: If you are gaining in muscle- that can cause increase in weight. If will help in the end because muscle burns calories. If you caloric deficit is too high - you could lower your metabolic rate.
