Check with ob: Check with your OB if you can take alleve or advil (ibuprofen). Antiinflammatory medicines help a lot. Also ice and a soft diet. Do not chew gum. Your dentist can make you a special night guard, i prefer the nti device rather than a full guard that covers all the top or bottom teeth. The nti is small and fits only in the front. When you wear it you can't clench or grind.

Consult your OB/GYN: Need to consult you ob/gyn doctor. Pregnancy complicates what treatment you can have. Can consider a mouthpiece (not over the counter...See a tmd specialist.) would even consider wearing a mouthpiece during labor due to the severe clenching involved.

A few ideas.: Self treat with soft diet, jaw exercises, massage, heat/cold, OTC pain meds (check with OB first). A splint or physical therapy would be next. See TMJ expert if symptoms persist. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
