No harm to baby: The cavity is an infected tooth and might erode through the base into the jaw. Best to get it fixed for your own comfort. Most dentists will offer a discount and/or time payments. If you are in an area with a dental school, they can offer treatment for less cost and charity hospitals can also help. How about the father of the baby?

If left untreated: A cavity is a localized infection. Best time to treat it is 2nd trimester. If left untreated and infection spreads, you can have an acute problem that requires more extensive and expensive rx, and can be harmful to baby. Talk to your dentist and ask about payment plans, but don't put off rx.
