See a DDS ASAP: Pregnancy is not a reason to defer routine dental care or treatment. Dental local anesthesia and treatment are safe and essential during pregnancy. The fact is that periodontal disease or advanced tooth decay can affect your pregnancy or the health of your baby.

No: Cavities do NOT cause birth defects. It is never advisable to wait for evaluation and treatment with regard to dental health. See a dentist asap to discuss treatment and timing given your pregnancy. Congratulations on the pregnancy!
