A member asked:

Doctor heard a murmer today but echo 2 moths ago was fine. why? could it be mitral valve prolapse?

Unlikely: Murmurs can be due to any different conditions. The murmur of mitral valve prolapse is due to the blood leaking back into the left atrium, and occurs during the systole, or the contracting phase of cardiac cycle. It is unlikely that your echocardiogram was normal two months ago and now you have murmur. You should repeat the echo and talk to a cardiologist.

Recheck: Echo is generally more accurate than we are for leakage some soft dynamic flow murmurs can occur, usually non significant.
