A member asked:

Is a ~2% increase ( from ~39-41%) in the cardiothoracic ratio between two chest x rays (may & oct. 2020) significant? context:i was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, described as a grade 6 murmur (w/ exertion), since having covid in april?

Grade 6 murmur: A grade 6 heart murmur is extremely loud& by definition can be heard with the stethoscope entirely off the chest wall and is indicative of marked mitral valve regurgitation. Your cardiothoracic ratio by chest xray is within normal limits(less than .42) so your cardiac silhouette is not enlarged by that criterion. However you have to have careful follow-up care, testing & advice by a cardiologist.
