Pulmonologist: I suggest going on your insurance carrier website and searching for a pulmonologist in your area. The other option is to ask friends or family if they know any pulmomologists. They will repeat the test in detail and review the results with you.

Allergist or pulm.: Pft's can help make the diagnosis, but symptoms and response to medication are often needed to confirm. If there was a significant change after bronchodilator (medicine to open the airways) or methacholine (which causes constriction) that would help to demonstrate asthma. Smoking cessation is important for you, especially given your symptoms.

Allergist or lung Dr: The diagnosis of asthma is based on the patient's symptoms, physical examination, pulmonary function tests (pfts) and absence of other causes for the symptoms. ^the latter are the most important. For a second opinion you should see a board-certified allergist/immunologist or pulmonologist. You can find the names in listings of the clark county medical society or health grades.

Professional web pg: Look on the " find a doctor" part of the "american academy of allergy asthma and immunology" (aaaai) web page for a referral idea. Make sure you discuss your smoking history with your doctor.... Smoking makes asthma and other lung disease worse and causes cancer... Stop smoking, it may save your life.
