A member asked:

Can a pelvic ultrasound differentiate between a fibroid tumor and cancer ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually yes: Uterine fibroids are overwhelmingly benign growths that arise from the uterus (there is a very rare possibility of these changing into cancer). Ultrasound can usually differentiate these from cancer of the ovary or of the uterine cavity. Sometimes MRI is used when there is a question.
