Bruxism in children: Bruxism (grinding of teeth) in 11 months old is not very common but it can happen at any age. Depending upon the duration, the teeth can wear away somewhat. There is nothing that you can do for an 11 month old. However, I have personally never seen enough severe damage to primary (baby) teeth that would become problematic. Often, it's temporary. Don't worry.See a pedodontist for child's 1st visit.

Teeth Grinding: This is called bruxism and is common and normal. Fortunately, he will lose these baby teeth, so there is no permanent damage. Bruxism usually occurs at night, during sleep. If he is doing it frequently during the day, try to ignore it (any intervention may teach him that he gets more attention by grinding). If he continues, see his pediatrician to check if he has any problem that is stressing him.

You can't: Most children grind teeth at one time or another. Usually not a problem if disappears by time permanent teeth start to erupt (about 6), you need to: 1. Have pediatrician check him for medical problem, but this is very unusual 2. Make an appointment with pediatric dental specialist for jaws and teeth, examination, hygiene & diet instructions, Fluoride balancing, and so much more. Don't wait.
