A member asked:

Is it necessary to schedule an annual physical for an otherwise healthy 46 year-old woman?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Necessary? No. But..: There are a number of tests, procedures and counseling options that might be appropriate for you at this age, e.g., a pap smear, mammogram, cholesterol screening, but few of these need to be done on an annual basis, for the average healthy person. Seeing your doctor annually gives you a chance to ask questions and seek advice even if only a focused exam is needed.
