A member asked:

Is getting surgery for a urinary fistula painful?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

To some degree: Urinary fistulas are the result of underlying disease, like diverticulitis, crohns disease, or even, unfortunately , cancer. How uncomfortable the post op course is dependent on the degree of surgery required, and whether it is laparoscopic or open. But, don't worry, prudent use of antiinflammatory agents and narcotics make it bearable. Good luck.
