Am i better off taking codeine, for my broken leg, or if i ask for tramadol will that work just as well without the constipation as a side effect?

Better options: Aspirin up to four grams daily, and tylenol (acetaminophen) up to 4 grams daily do a great job. This is usually standard. Avoid codeine. A few doses of tramadol are ok also.

Many options: I think tylenol (acetaminophen) is fine. Many orthopedic doctor would not want you taking Aspirin due to the bleeding risk and the fact that it may slow down healing. Tramadol is good.
