Prostate cancer: Most patients will not have symptoms until the cancer is very advanced or has spread. The clear majority of patients are diagnosed at early stages and will usually be diagnosed after having an elevated prostate specific antigen (PSA) test or after an abnormal digital rectal exam (DRE). These tests are usually performed by your primary care doctor or urologist.
