A member asked:

If my partner and i both tested negative for hiv, is there any chance we can get it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: A negative blood test, with rare exceptions rules out aids/hiv. A test may be negative if the person acquired the infection very recently, "window period". If you wish to make extra certain, both of you could get retested in three months and if still negative and neither engages in high risk behaviour, you will not get aids. See this site for more info. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/basic/.
