Elective procedure: Foreskin separates on it's own by age 10 years in about 90 - 90+% of boys. Thhis allows for adequate penile hygeine. Penile cancer is virtually unknown in uncircumsided men with good hygeine as seen in scandinavia. Foreskin has many sensory nerve endings thus sex with an intact foreskin may be pleasanter. American academy of pediatrics swing to & fro re newborn circs, now only slightly in favor.

Personal choice: In the us circumcision is commonplace, 80-90 %, france 30%, australia 30%, great brittain 10% (not covered by national health insurance). I remember it being the most requested elective surgery among young enlisted men during my navy years. If it is done at all it is easiest and heals quickest in newborns. The increasing latino population accounts for the main drop in my experience.
