Prostaglandins: Prostaglandins are chemicals secreted by the body that cause a number of different things. They are often produced by the body/uterus during menses and are a big part of what causes cramping with your period. But they also are a gut stimulant, so your intestine gets stimulated as well and you poop more. Increase fiber in pre-menstrual days and also you may find Ibuprofen settles things down.
