Help please! could bowel movement be related to start of period?

Dr. Janis Fee answered

Some normal or not!: Yes, when the period starts there are higher levels of certain hormones, and this can cause either loose stools or cramps, or even constipation. Some of this is normal, but in endometriosis it may cause pain with BMs, severe cramps after passing stool, or even diarrhea and painful BMs. If you are concerned then see your doctor for more testing. Good luck.
