Maybe: Especially if eaten raw. Hiv-1 and hiv-2 both probably crossed from other primates to people from eating bush-meat (chimps and mangebey monkeys) in africa. This is of course an off-the-wall question but i don't have a problem with the healthtap team answering this sort of thing. I'm simply glad you're thinking and have an inquiring mind. Best wishes.
