Why do i need to see a gastroenterologist befor having my inguinal hernia repaired?

Colonoscopy: Because of an uncommon association between colon tumors and inguinal hernia many doctors recommend a screening colonoscopy prior to surgery.

You don't: Generally, i would not recommend a visit to the gastroenterologist prior to a hernia repair. However, if you are experiencing a change in bowel habits, then i would see a gatroenterologist prior to surgery.
