Plantar Fasciitis: This typically sounds like plantar fasciitis, and inflamtion of the connective tissue from your heel to the arch and metatarsals. Additional you must eliminate the possibility of a stress fracture of the calcaneus, or a heel spur. Conservative treatment, icing, stretching, anti-inflamatory medication, a night splint, and an insole or rx orthotic is helpful to eliminate the pain and prevent recurre.

Fracture or PF.: Could be many things, but the two most likely are either a stress frature or plantar fasciitis. The best way to know is to get an x-ray of your foot. Another clue is when it hurts: stress fractures are all the time, while pf hurts most with the first few steps in the morning, or after sitting for a long time. See a podiatrist to rule out other possibilities, like nerve entrapment.
