Won't heal itself: The only way to get rid of a dental infection is to deal with the source of it. That means getting a root canal procedure, or gum treatments, o perhaps an extraction, depending on what is causing the infection. Please seek professional care.

Cause determines Tx: See a dentist as soon as possible to see what is causing the infection. The cause and degree of severity will factor in to what your options are. You will need to be given the appropriate antibiotic and the treatment may be root canal therapy, an extraction, or periodontal treatment.
