Clarify: Av fistula means connection between artery and vein .This is created surgically either on the wrist, forearm or arm. The blood flow through the artery reaches the vein through this surgucal correction makes the vein thicker and easier to cannulate for dialysis. Infection rate is low as this is one's own blood vessel- no synthetic graft or catheter.
