EGFR of 55: You need to see a nephrologist to get a definite answer. Your egfr means "estimated glomerular filtration rate". A nephrologist will order a 24 hour urine to arrive at your actual gfr. Your egfr is arrived at by taking into account your sex, age, weight and race along with your serum creatinine level.
