Maybe: You may have a tmj/muscle dysfunction problem that is treated by a dentist. Select a dentist that routinely treats TMJ with functional orthopedic type applicances. Many dentist treat tmj, however only about 5% are really good at it partly due to familiar with a wide range of modes of therapy to better customize the treatment specifically for your conditions.

Not likely: Doesn't sound like a TMJ problem to me. Where is the swollen lymph node? Tmj problems are usually not associated with swollen lymph nodes, unless it's an infectious process such as septic arthritis, which likely would have shown up on a ct. Does it hurt to move your jaw or chew? If not, look elsewhere. Sorry to hear you're having trouble finding the answer. Good luck!

Yea: Very possible it is tmj. See a dentist who is knowledgable in treating TMJ syndrome. A 'specialist' is not necessarily required.

TMJ expert: Your diagnosis is unclear. I would start with your general MD, and go from there. If it's a TMJ problem, see a specialist. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
