Carpal Tunnel: The most common cause of numbness in the hands is carpal tunnel syndrome where a nerve gets pinched at the wrist area. Visit your doctor for an evaluation.

Probably CTS: Your symptoms sound very much like exertional tendonitis with underling cts... You might try typing with a wrist cock-up splint( carpal tunnel splint)... If this fails to resolve your symptoms my advice is to see a hand surgeon.
